Dan’s empathetic understanding of catastrophic rehabilitation has empowered him to develop a great passion for the healthcare delivery system. Dan is active as an advocate of creating seamless continuums of care throughout the healthcare spectrum. In addition Dan is an accomplished healthcare public speaker presenting numerous conference presentations across the country on such topics as Cognitive Learning, Managed Care Contracting, Negotiation Skills, Healthcare Marketing Strategies and Brain Injury.
Dan’s healthcare clinical background is in Occupational Therapy as a COTA. Since 1997 Dan has functioned as a Medical Rehabilitation Surveyor for the Commission of Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities specializing in Acute, Subacute and Brain Injury Rehabilitation. Dan also performs an array of civic and professional activities such as, President of BIA of MI Support Group, Board Member of the MOTA Council on Education, Chairman of the Brain Injury Association of Michigan Golf Outing, Board of Directors of the American Subacute Care Association, National Advisory Committee Medical Rehabilitation Standards, Advisory Committee for the State of Michigan Long Term Care Initiative, SEMTBIS Peer Mentoring Research project, Board Member of Michigan Sports Unlimited and Board Member of St Joseph Mercy of Macomb Hospital Foundation. Dan’s dedication to the healthcare delivery system and education have also encouraged him to develop two IRB approved clinical research projects looking at enhancing the post operative care of amputee patients, serving as Principle and Co-Investigator.
