An Inspiration to All...

Although Mark Bolmoski has suffered hardships in his life, he has never given up. With the support of his wife and his prosthetist, John Bryant. Mark is now making a successfully comeback. Six years ago, Mark stepped on a piece of glass and incurred an infection that spread throughout his leg. This resulted in Mark having his left leg amputated below the knee. At the time, Mark weighed over 300 lbs. Due to complications from his amputation and diabetes, Mark continued to gain weight until his weight reached over 400 lbs. Mark's health began to deteriorate, he was diagnosed with High Blood Pressure and Sleep Apnea. With the urging of his wife and recommendation of his doctor, Mark underwent Gastric By-Bass surgery in May 2006. Since then Mark has successfully lost 230 pounds and has improved his health and lifestyle tremendously. Mark no longer has high blood pressure or sleep apnea and has reduced the amount of medications he takes. Mark keeps himself as active as possible, and attributes his success to his wife for helping him with his weight loss and his prosthetist John Bryant, CPO, for helping him walk again.

As a child, Mark grew up playing baseball and often dreamed of playing on the Detroit Tiger's Field. Last summer Mark's dream came true when he had the pleasure of participating in the Detroit Tigers Fantasy Camp at Comerica Park. This 3 day long baseball training camp gave Mark the once-in-a-lifetime experience of training and playing with some legendary Tiger players: Dave Rozema, Gates Brown, Dave Bergman and Dan Petry. Mark received an authentic uniform that was custom made for him and had the pleasure of playing under the lights at Comerica park.
